21 weeks down! 19 to go?

We have had a blast coming up with “baby names”. You can read the comments that people attached to our post and see what others have come up with. Zak had a good one, DRUNK. And I like Barb’s suggestion of ZAK. This poor child might never have a real name! We have discussed a few, but don’t seem to be able to agree on any.

We made it to 21 weeks now. And I have come up with a brilliant idea. I think as soon as a woman finds out that she is pregnant, at the first doctors appointment, the doctor should install an IV. This IV should last you through the whole pregnancy. I mean, sure, I would gladly change the bags of saline, but they should install the input somewhere where it could be left in for 10 months. So many women have a hard time staying thoroughly hydrated; this would take care of the issue. I am really wishing I had an IV right now, as I have come down with a summer cold. Colds are not fun when you are pregnant. There isn’t much you can, and/or want to do, but suffer through it. There are few medicine’s you can take and the one’s you can have all the decongestants and everything removed, so they don’t do much good anyway. I feel pretty miserable. This is the time when normally I would be loading up on Dayquil and Nyquil and I would feel much better. Not today! I did go to Urgent Care yesterday to get my throat checked. It’s not strep, which is good news.

Anyway, things are pretty much the same here. I feel the baby move daily. She was really active last night, when I was trying to sleep. I don’t feel her move all the time, just once and a while.

The weather has been hot here recently. It’s been hovering between 85-90 degrees this week. We are all ready using our new whole house central air. Ahhh, is it ever nice!

Other than that, it’s been a quiet week. Hubby started his last class before he graduates with Masters Degree 1! June 23rd is graduation.

I just came up with another name suggestion. Have you heard that Emma and Emily are currently the most popular names for girls? So, how about we name her Emma Emily? EEK!!

Speaking of EEK, that reminds me of a funny thing that happened yesterday at WnW. We have 2 store cats there, Bart and Lisa. Due to all the dog food we carry, both stores have store cats. We always hoped they would aid with any rodent issues, and customers love them. We hadn’t had any rodent issues, until yesterday. I was opening the store when my employee Anna let me know that Bart (the male cat) alerted her to the fact that there was a mouse stuck behind a pole in our wash area. It took 3 employees, but we got the mouse out, and let it go into the fields behind our store. Thank goodness it jumped in the hole, or its days might have been numbered. Seems at least one of the cats is a mouser! We were very proud of Bart, as that is his job, to protect our supply of food!

Well, I have a million things I need to do today, and not much motivation to do them. So, I better go and try to get some things accomplished!

Here is what BGK (baby Girl K) is up to now: (maybe we should name her Brenda Glenda)

3-D

We went and got a 3-D ultrasound done today. All I can say is: amazing. The pictures we now have on our website don’t do the real thing justice. But, you can go and see that indeed, there is a real kid in there, who has my nose!

Names

When you are expecting a child the number of times you get asked
"Do you have a name yet?"
is ridiculous. That's a hint, please stop asking.

BTW: Only wifey and hubby will know until after Baby K has popped out.

We are working on names.
Granted at the moment we are having fun with initials

20 weeks and Las Vegas

Here is what I suggest… I suggest that you go to Las Vegas with a group of friends whenever you get the chance! I had such a great time! We flew in early on Tuesday morning. We had a slight delay getting the rental car, but no big deal. By the time we got to Mandalay Bay we were able to check in. Of course, they HAD to upgrade Chris and I’s rooms to suites. (Chris is the manager of the other store here in town). So, we each had a room that was the entire end of the floor we were on! My room consisted of 2 large rooms of living area. One room had a big screen TV and couch. The other room had a dining room table for 6 and a wet bar. Then, there was a bedroom on each side. Each bedroom consisted of a king size bed, a bathroom that had a large Jacuzzi tub, and a large walk in glass shower and 2 sinks. I was living like a queen!

After we spent a while getting settled, we went down to the pool. There we got a bite to eat and then found some lounge chairs by the lazy river. The temp that day got up to 99 degrees, but it actually didn’t feel that hot! Whenever we did start to feel warm, we would jump on our inner tubes and floated around the lazy river they have!

That night we went down to the Bellagio for their wonderful buffet! A buffet is a great place to take a pregnant woman. I ate and ate and ate. It was all such tasty food! We walked around a bit after that, did some gambling, and then went back to the hotel.

The next morning, I walked around the mall that connects Mandalay Bay to the Luxor. I was killing time while waiting to meet Dan and Jef for breakfast. After a tasty breakfast, Chris and I headed back to the mall to shop. After that he headed one way and I walked over to Shark Reef. Mandalay Bay has an attraction which is an aquarium with sharks. I walked around there for about an hour, looking at all the cool sharks and fish. After there, I met up with Jef and Dan at the pool for a short bit. I say a short bit, because it was 101 degrees that day!

That night we had our “fancy dinner” and a show. We had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant in the hotel called Red Square. Then we went and saw the show Mamamia, which was right in our hotel as well. It was a great show! Someone took all the music of ABBA and set it to a play to make a musical. Since we all like ABBA music, we all enjoyed the show very much!

Thursday was Chris and I’s last day there. After breakfast and packing up, we headed over to the Luxor for some gambling. I played a little bit of Craps. But I spent more time playing Roulette. I really enjoyed that! I did pretty well with winnings also. Not great, but okay. I think all in all, I lost about $40 over the course of the 3 days. That afternoon, Chris and I flew home, back to reality. Dan and Jef stayed a few more days, they flew home tonight. They have some close friends that live there, so they checked out of the hotel and went and stayed with their friends.

All in all, I had a great time! It was so very relaxing! It was a much needed break, which made it very hard to come back to work! You can go to our website to view pictures taken!

But here I am, back to work. I am half way done with the pregnancy now also! I made it to 20 weeks! Some times the little girl is very active! Sometimes I don’t feel her for hours. That is when I start to get nervous, just ask Hubby. But, at some point, in the next few hours, I feel her again and all is well. Here is what she is up to now:

http://www.babycenter.com/mybabycenter/120.html

Hubby talked me into getting a body pillow for myself. Ahhhh, what a great invention! It’s about 4 foot long and it’s wonderful to wrap my legs around! Now, if I could just get a second one, when Hubby is out of town, I can have one on each side! Perfect! Good news is though, that he is around for a while. I do enjoy that!

Bristol finished his CGC class last week and we take the test June 10th. This past Friday was his last Agility class. He graduated that with flying colors! Maggie is still doing her class, but we have the next 2 weeks off because the trainer went to Europe.

Buddy is still Buddy. He is currently playing with a Kong toy. The only reason he is currently playing with it is because about an hour ago it was filled with frozen baby food. He has since emptied that out and is now trying to get any last molecule of food out of it.

Hubby is doing well. He is in his last class before his first master’s degree is complete! Looks like the prefect record of straight A’s has been broken. He now has a B+ in a class, but that is a sore subject, we try not to talk about it.

Well, it’s about time for me to head to bed. I don’t make it up late these days anymore!

19 weeks

Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful mother’s out there. And Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mother’s of the 4 legged furry kind as well! You can’t forget the furry children! My furry children gave me a couple cards this morning! How sweet are they!? They must have pooled their dog biscuits and traded the card store clerk! Of course I learned you really shouldn’t give cards to pregnant women. You know what happens? They cry…..

Bristol finished up his CGC class Saturday morning. We will go and take the test on June 10th. I don’t know if he is ready to pass it or not, but even if he doesn’t, its good practice! His last agility class is this upcoming Friday.

Wednesday was a big day for us, as you could probably tell! The ultrasound went awesome. Baby looked great, and of course we found out it’s a little girl, just as Hubby wanted! She had been really active Wednesday through Thursday night. But I haven’t felt much movement since then, which is a little unnerving to me. The doctor told me that is how it would most likely be though….

Hubby finished up his 2nd to last class for this Master’s Degree. He has 1 class left before he graduates in June. He then has 3 more classes to complete his 2nd Master’s degree.

Thursday Hubby got tickets to go to the Avalanche Hockey game. It wound up being their last game of the season, as they were knocked out of the playoff’s. He went up to Denver with a couple friend to enjoy the game.

That same evening, I went to an Aids fund raiser event with my WnW bosses. Since we went to the Red Ribbon Ball last year, I guess we got on their mailing list. This event was held at the Colorado College President’s house. My boss loves that house and has always wanted to go inside! So, it worked out nice. There were some finger foods and a open bar. I took advantage of the open bar and had all the water I could drink! The house inside is beautiful! Probably over 100 years old, and just amazing. We stayed there for about an hour and a half. We also visited Outback Steakhouse prior to going for a quick bite to eat!

Other than me not feeling the baby move as much as I wish, the pregnancy is going well. I am into all maternity clothes now with a little belly starting to show. Here is what BGK (Baby Girl Kirouac) is up to this week:

http://www.babycenter.com/mybabycenter/119.html

We are going to the zoo today (My mother’s day wish) and then taking my mom to a German restaurant for an early dinner.

Again, Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!

18 weeks

Looking back, my first trimester of pregnancy really was NO FUN! I felt so horrible all the time! Now, I am feeling so much better that I can’t even believe I made it through the first 3 months! I have moments of queasiness, but they are far and few. I also have times when I get really tired. But that I can live with also.

Yesterday was one of those days that I got really tired. But, it’s no wonder. We woke up about 6:30am and left the house by 7:30am to go to the Arthritis Walk. This year, the city held an Arthritis Dog/People walk. So, WnW sponsored a booth. I was in charge of it. We set up our pop up shelter and tables. We handed out information about the store, tennis balls, biscuits, and all kinds of good stuff. There were probably about 30-40 dogs that showed up. We also set up kiddy pools with water in them for dogs to either drink or romp in. Mostly dogs romped in it. One even laid down in it! When we get the pictures up, I will send them on. We packed up and left about 11:30am. So, that whole time I was on my feet. I think that really wore me out.

We came home and ran a few errands, but after that I took about an hour nap. I spent the rest of the afternoon in the Lazy Boy while Hubby did homework. He left at 6pm to go meet with his group for his school project for a few hours and I watched the Richmond race. Hubby made it home for the end of the race. I was in bed and probably asleep by about 9:30pm. I felt completely wiped out!

Other than that, things have been pretty much the same here. Hubby was pretty much gone the last two weeks with work. He’s home now for at least 3 weeks. We booked tickets to go to Monterey, CA in July for a few days, just the 2 of us. And towards the end of July we will go to Vegas for his work conference.

The puppies are doing well. Bristol is really having fun in his Agility class! He is too good at it too! I have a hard time keeping up with him! He is fast! I have heard that there is a place out on Woodmen that has a full course that you pay a membership fee to and you can go out and practice with them all you want! I think we might do that after we finish the current class we are in! Maggie starts her next class on Tuesday. And Buddy enjoys being an 8 year old beagle by spending his time sleeping or eating.

My grass isn’t turning green yet. All the neighbors have green grass all ready and I still have mostly brown grass! I did have our lawn people put organic fertilizer down this past week and they also got the sprinklers up and running. So, hopefully we will start to see things green up soon! I turned the sprinklers on when I got up with the dogs this morning in fact, to help my poor grass. I feel like I have been watering like crazy though, because before the sprinkler system was turned on, I was using the hoses to water!

Well, I have to go and see if I have a clean pair of maternity pants to wear for today! My regular clothes just don’t fit anymore. I am up 9 pounds so far! I am just starting to get a little belly. Nothing really noticeable yet. But here is what the baby is up to now that I am 18 weeks!
