27 weeks and counting!

Well, it’s been a busy week here. I couldn’t mention it last post, because it hadn’t happened yet. But, Saturday night my parent’s and I threw a surprise party for Hubby (for graduation). I think we really surprised him, he didn’t know it was coming. I couldn’t believe we actually pulled it off! It sure takes a lot to get things past him, so with the help of my mother, we were able to do it!!

We got him down to Guiseppe’s Depot, and the hostess walked us back to the room. I walked in first and ducked to the side and then he walked in. Everyone yelled surprise and it he got an ear to ear grin on his face. We had a nice dinner and the cake was from his favorite cake place, Little London (they did our wedding cake). It was cute, it had a skeleton on it, with a mortar board and diploma and it said, “Finally!” And boy was that cake yummy! We had a small chunk of leftovers, it lasted 2 days. You can see pictures on our web page.

Hubby’s dad left early Sunday morning to fly home. And I had to go to work. I started my last week at WnW. I don’t think it has sunk in yet.

Made it through the week fine, until Wednesday. I came home from work, about 5:45pm, and suddenly I started to bleed. From the area I really shouldn’t be bleeding from right now. So, I called the doctor and he told me to come down to the hospital to get checked out (he was all ready there). So, we did. Due to my current condition (being pregnant) we had to get seen in the Birthing Center (or Labor and Delivery). It was really busy there and I had to wait in the hall in a wheelchair. Well, then I started to have contractions. So, yes, I was in a bit of some pre-term labor. Yes, rather scary as she really shouldn’t be coming out at 26 & ½ weeks. I had to spend several hours on the monitors, and I got a quick ultra sound and everything. It was determined that baby was just fine. PHEW! Turns out my cervix was having issues and that is what was bleeding for some odd reason. We are still trying to determine that. And who knows why I was having contractions. Boy do they feel weird. And it’s even weirder to watch them on the monitor.

So, we spent about 5 hours there, they ended up putting about a liter and a half of fluid in me via IV, and also giving me a shot to stop the contractions. That all seemed to work. I started asking to go home about 10:45pm and they let me go around 11pm. What a night!

The next day I was all ready scheduled to go and see the doctor anyway. So, I went in to see him again. I had to also take my glucose test that day. The doctor was kind enough to tell me that I am not allowed to go to California. So, our nice trip together to Monterey is off. We are both really bummed about that, but due to the fact that we just had this episode and we are still trying to determine why we had this episode, I am not allowed to venture far from home.

The doctor was also kind enough to tell me no more working at WnW. I am not allowed to stand on my feet for 8 hours at a time anymore. By the time this all happened, I was down to 2 days left of work there, but I am not allowed to finish them now. I was a little bummed, but I don’t think it has sunk in yet! But considering I really don’t want this little girl to come out yet, I am okay with it.

Tomorrow I hit 27 weeks. I am now thankful to see the weeks tick by. It’s scary to go through that, so every DAY that passes and things are going smooth, I am happy. But I also am into my third trimester now. Everything I have read always says that the 2nd trimester is the best. Boy, they weren’t kidding. I get heartburn all the time now, if I lay in one position to long my hips hurt, the tiredness is back…the list of things now happening to me goes on. But, I will gladly endure it for more time for her to stay in there and grow.

So, since we had to cancel everything for next week, we plan on taking a few days to ourselves and maybe do something like register. I would like to take some time and do SOMETHING just the two of us. But since I am not allowed to venture far from home and I am supposed to take it easy, I am not sure what yet.

At least I get to spend more time with Hubby the next few months. We did get the dresser for the baby’s room delivered yesterday. So, the baby at least has 1 piece of furniture now!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. Send good thoughts our way that Baby girl K doesn’t make her arrival until LATE September!

6 & 1/2 months (26 weeks)

6 and a half months pregnant. From everything I have read, they say that your 2nd trimester is the easiest. So far I agree. For the second trimester, I just was pregnant. Now, I am larger and have a belly in my way. You know the thing that got the hardest the fastest? Feeding the dogs. Their food bins are on the floor of our pantry. So now, I have to sit down on the floor to get to them. And they are under the shelf, so I have to lean over to get into them. It makes for an uncomfortable position for a pregnant lady.

Speaking of pregnant, she is moving more and more. Sometimes I am unsure of what she is even doing in there because the last few days my whole stomach vibrates. I can feel her almost any time. I am also getting to know her schedule. She is most active when I first get up in the morning and again about 6pm. I also feel her a little about 1pm. She is pretty consistent with that.

Last night Hubby graduated. He got his 1st Master’s Degree. Something to do with computer security. I forget the whole title and what his emphasis was. He is on track to get his 2nd masters in December. The ceremony was unlike any other. First, going into it, we had little clue as to where it was and what was actually going to happen. The neat thing was that they actually allowed anyone to come down front and take pictures. So, I was able to be 5 feet away when Hubby got hooded and received his diploma. I am not sure the pictures turned out great, but we will see.

The neat thing is that Hubby’s dad flew in from Virginia to surprise him for the graduation. I am not sure Hubby was all that surprised, since a pregnant lady needs help getting things ready for a guest, and due to flight problems, his father arrived about 12 hours later than planned originally. But it was neat that he came out here to see him walk. Today we are going to head up to the Air Force Academy and go to the visitor’s center. Maybe I can coerce the two of them to install a ceiling fan in the nursery. But first we have to get a fan. His dad flies out tomorrow morning. So, it was a short, but happy to see him trip. We will see him again in November when both his parents come out for Thanksgiving.

More big news this week: Bristol passed his CGC test! He is now certified as a Canine Good Citizen. Meaning he has training and manners! I was worried; we went to a farm in Falcon to a 4-H meeting. There were lots of little kids there. He gets overwhelmed easy by lots of kids. So, I was worried he wouldn’t behave. But he behaved well enough that he passed! He will get a certificate from the AKC! I am very proud. If you remember, that was one of my New Year’s resolutions was to get him CGC certified. I also wanted to make him a therapy dog, but I am thinking he is more going to be an agility dog. That is more his personality.

This upcoming week is my last week at WnW. It’s rather unreal and I don’t think it has sunk in yet. It will, I hope. I am having a BBQ at my house next Sunday for everyone to thank them for all they have done, and to welcome the new management team. I am really looking forward to have time to do all my nesting stuff! I haven’t had much time to clean, so I plan on spending the next few months cleaning and organizing!

Coming up this week baby-wise, I have my glucose test. I guess to find out if I have gestational diabetes. I am not really worried about it. I can’t believe they test you this late! Well, I guess they know what they are doing!

Hello 25 weeks!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL YOU DAD’S OUT THERE!

Well, let’s see. Yet another busy busy week has gone by. I closed WnW on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. That means I spent the morning at SH those mornings. Tuesday I opened at WnW and that night Maggie had her training class. Friday was one of my days off from WnW so I spent the morning at SH. But in the afternoon I scheduled myself for a pedicure. I figured if I didn’t schedule time for myself, I never would get it!

After my nice relaxing hour in the pedicure chair, I headed off to WnW to pick up items for an event on Saturday. Then I came home and shampooed the carpet in the front room. Then I started putting away laundry. My friend came over to watch a movie and eat Pizza since Hubby was out of town and due to arrive home late that night. Needless to say, I really overdid it last week. It’s my own fault; I think shampooing the carpet was really just way too much. So, I spent as much time as I could on Saturday sitting down.

We had another dog event to go to. This one was called Paws in the Park. It was to support a local animal rescue group. Apparently last year it was pretty big and drew quite the crowd. But this year wasn’t as successful. They had us put our booth was out, away from everything. It was a little disappointing. I had the feeling that it was a little unorganized and chaotic. But, at least we got the WnW name and coupons out.

We brought Bristol again with us this week, as we were SUPPOSED to have his CGC test again this week. However, it got cancelled that morning, again. So, Bristol got to hang out with us all day. He again, did really good and seemed to enjoy being there. Except when the K9 unit from Peterson AFB gave their demonstration, and they used real guns (with blanks) to demonstrate what their dogs can do. Bristol about freaked out and tried to climb up and over the pen he was in. The walls of his pen were about 3 and ½ foot high! It took him a little bit to calm down.

But after they did their demonstration, the place where we go for all our training was there showing off agility stuff. After their demonstration, they let anyone and their dogs go and test the stuff out. So, we went and practiced the A frame, table and the tunnel, of course. The tunnel is Bristol’s favorite.

We came home after the event, and after a shower and a brief nap for me, we headed off to dinner with my mom and dad. We celebrated Father’s day a little early because I had to work today.

So, I worked at WnW today. On the way home I picked up things for dinner. New craving today was fried zucchini with mozzarella cheese. I also picked up the fixings for chicken burritos. I made dinner while hubby chatted with his folks. The burritos actually turned out pretty tasty. But since we finished dinner, I have been ready for bed.

The ‘nursery’ is getting closer and closer to being ready for the change into a nursery. We just have to move a few more things out, and then it’s ready!

Speaking of the baby, she seems to be doing well. I am apparently not very pregnant looking for being 6 months pregnant. But I can assure you, I have the 6 month pregnant baby in there. Just ask my lungs, they don’t inflate as much as they used to. But I have received many comments about how I just don’t look very pregnant. Well, I feel very much the opposite of that!

On top of Hubby being gone last week, working a ton, and everything else, I have 4 dogs currently. We are watching our friend’s Blue Healer puppy while they spend 2 weeks in Florida. He is a pretty good dog. He does have his moments where he needs some correction, but he is also a FAST learner! He is also the fullest of energy out of all of them! My 3 will be sacked out and he will be chewing on a bone still. He is the one that apparently needs the least sleep! Buddy is the one who requires the most sleep. But Romeo, that’s his name, and Bristol just play and play and play together! The other night when my friend came over, she brought over her 2 dogs. Everyone played and played and played, except Buddy who stayed out of the way on the couch, away from the madness!

Well, I am really tired, so off to bed I go! Here is what Baby Girl K is up to now:

6 down, 4 to go

Well, according to my new due date, we have 6 months of pregnancy under our belt and we are down to just 4 months to go. Yes, that adds up to 10, but yes you are really pregnant for 10 months, or 40 weeks. She is moving and kicking lots, Hubby has only had the chance to feel her twice, but that is pretty much due to timing.

Tonight I am the sorest and most uncomfortable I have been yet. But today was a long day. There was a Pet Fair at the Shops at Briargate today. WnW had a booth there, so we were up early, loading things up and then traveling up to the site and then unloading. Then setting up and then the pet fair lasted about 3 hours. After it was over and we got the Jeep packed back up, we went shopping. Oh, and Bristol was with us also. We had expected to leave there and go to his CGC test. However, I got a call while we were there saying that the test was moved to next weekend. For timing reason’s we had brought him with us. One of the other ladies who came with us has a large exercise pen for her large dogs that she set up for us there. So, he had a nice pen to hang out in the shade all day long. He was exceptionally good and well behaved in the pen. We went shopping with him after because their new thing is that about half the shops are now dog friendly and you can take your dog shopping with you. So we went and poked around Potter Barn for Kids. I have always loved that store, and now being pregnant, I love it even more!

Anyway, from there we went to our friend’s house that was having a BBQ. Bristol was still going strong as there were 2 other dogs for him to play with there. We ate a quick bite and then I hit my wall. I was ready to go home. So, we came home, I took a shower and then a nap. It was in the mid to upper 80’s today, so it was hot for a pregnant woman to be outside and on her feet most of the day. After I got up again, we had a coupon for a restaurant opening, for a free dinner. So, we headed to Rumbi grill for our free meal. I am glad we got to try them for free. They were okay, maybe someday I will eat there again. But I don’t think I will rave about it to other people.

So, tonight I am paying the price. My back hurts, I have been having Braxton Hick’s, my tummy is sore…. Uugh. But I think overall the Pet Fair was a success! We gave away a lot of stuff and the goodies we gave away were well received by people. I think we looked quite professional, and neat! I am proud of our little group!

Tomorrow I have a staff meeting. I guess since the news will hit my staff in the morning, I can go ahead and say here that I am leaving WnW. I know, very shocking. July 2 will be my last day with them. I don’t think, however, that is the last of me working there. It’s such a fun job! I was originally going to go part time, but then realized that me stepping down as manager and sticking around wasn’t very fair to the new manager. I need to get the heck out of dodge and let the new manager settle in. Plus, I need to get off my feet, I am not quite the young buck some other mommies are, so the days get long for me quick. It all works out nice in the end (I hope). So, I am rather sad about it, as I have really really enjoyed my time there, but it’s time to take a break also.

After the staff meeting, I am going with one of my WnW co-workers to the dog show that is in town. Apparently it’s pretty big, and we aren’t far from where it’s being held. So, we are going to go poke around and have fun looking at everything. Heck, maybe I will pick up another dog while I am there… Just kidding!

Well, it’s late for me, and I need to get some sleep! Here is what Baby Girl K is up to nowadays:

Fast Forward to 23 weeks!

Well, fast forward a week in time. The doctors have changed my due date. The new due date is now September 30th. So I lost a whole week of pregnancy there! Not such a bad thing. But, here we are now just that much closer. No, the nursery isn’t even close to being done. In fact, it’s not close to being empty! We have to empty out our other stuff that has been collecting in there for 4 years and then paint it and get it ready from there. So, yes, we have a little bit of work to be done.

These past 2 weeks have been tough on me. I worked 11 days straight. And when I close at WnW, I spend the morning at SH. So, some days I work 8am to 8pm. Working at SH really isn’t too bad. It’s a sit down job, and I am familiar with it all ready. So, it’s not much stress on my body or mind. WnW is a little bit harder because I am on my feet the whole time. Due to that, I have all ready started to have Braxton Hicks. (contractions that aren’t labor). The doctor told me to drink more water and eat more frequently. I have tried that the last 2 days and they have been a bit less frequent and when they do occur, they are not as uncomfortable. All though, I all ready was drinking a lot of water. Somehow I have been squeezing in more!

22 weeks

Yet another week has gone by! I can feel her moving more and more now. Or I guess kicking. Hubby felt his first kick last night. She kicked right where his hand was. I am starting to have Braxton Hicks all ready! They are uncomfortable, that’s for sure. The tummy is getting a little larger as well. The pregnancy clothes make me look pregnant. If I wear a normal shirt, I don’t look pregnant, just really thick in the waist area.

Next doctor’s appointment is Wednesday. This will be an uneventlful appointment. This should just be a hearbeat check and check up on me. Nothing exciting to do this time. Here is what she is up to now:

http://www.babycenter.com/mybabycenter/122.html

I have been busy working. I am currently on an 11 day stretch of working. I know, quit rolling your eyes. Soon, things will be changing… I am hanging in there okay. I just have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning sometimes. And I crave pancakes. But who has time to make pancakes?!

Well, I am off to check the bank, and do some web surfing before heading to bed.
