Ahh, Halloween has finally arrived. Courtney spent the day asking me if it was time to go trick or treating. I have a feeling I have several more years of this. FINALLY, after naps and snack, it was time to head to our neighbors' house. Our neighbors, the H's, had us over for dinner, and the P's came too! So, we had 3 - 4 year olds, 3 toddlers, 3 mommies, 1 daddy, and 1 mother in law there for dinner. The craziness started after dinner when the 4 year olds realized it was time. Time had come for that moment they have been waiting for all month. Time to costume up and go trick or treating! Of course today Courtney decided she didn't want to be a dog like originally planned. She wanted to be a princess. No problem, got that one covered! So, no big fight there.
We got everyone suited up, pictures taken and out the door we went. We went to probably 20 houses. Much different than last year when we went to I think 5 houses. Maybe 10. We went with the H's last year too, since they live across the street. We put the toddlers in strollers and headed off! Courtney freaked out any time she saw kids in masks or something scary on someone's porch. She can't stand not seeing someone's face. So, I had to hold her hand most of the time. Poor kid! Where is that coming from? The other kids weren't scared.
Anyway, we made the loop around the neighborhood just in time to get back to our house for a potty break. We then hit one more house before heading back to the H's house to pick up all our stuff. The 4 year olds ran inside and all dumped out their candy on the floor to compare what they got. They all were allowed 1 piece of candy tonight.
After we finally got all the kids to pick up all their candy, and got the little one's packed up, we headed out. The P's got in their truck to head for home. We had to stop at another neighbor's house to drop something off on our way home, 2 houses up, but we headed out too.
Once we got to the next neighbor's house, it was another 45 minutes there. They made homemade calzones for dinner. The girls each ate some, I had another glass of wine. Just what I needed. Courtney played a game of Mario Kart with our neighbor's grand-kids who are her age. It was actually a good time there too! Kasey was just about at the end of her rope, so we finally headed out. We came home, I got the girls in bed, and then I took a nice long hot shower. For some reason my back muscles feel sore. Anyway, the girls are now crashed out and I am not far behind.
I feel so blessed to have spent the evening with 2 really good friends taking our girls trick or treating! It was so fun! I did take lots of pictures, but I am too tired to upload them at the moment. I will do that soon. I had a great evening. I am so sorry that Hubby had to miss it, he left on a plane at noon today for a trip. Halloween just keeps getting better and better!!!!
I hope all of you had a great evening!

Babysitters
Nana and Papa are coming to babysit the girls today while Hubby and I go to a football game. Courtney is a little too excited about this. All week she has been asking 'is today the day?' Finally the day has come, and Courtney was up at 6am. And with her going in and out of her room, and everything she woke her sister up. So, yes, we have all been up since 6am. Well, except Hubby, I was extremely kind and let him stay in bed. I am currently questioning that decision.
Anyway I came downstairs and fed the girls breakfast. About 5 minutes after breakfast Courtney was asking if the babysitters were here yet. I explained that the babysitters wouldn't be here until after lunch. 2 minutes later she says to me: "Mom, will you make me some lunch?"
Ah kids, gotta love em!

Boo at the Zoo!
To be honest, the recession is hitting Hubby's company and paydays are not so regular anymore. So, we really have to watch our money. I struggle with impulse buying, I know this. But my friend at MOPS told me all about how she orders her groceries online! HUH, not having to GO to the grocery store could sure save us some money! The fee for delivery is $9.95 and you have to order a minimum of $50. No problem there! So, Sunday night I sat down and did my first ever online grocery order. I actually had looked into it right after Courtney was born, but I think the fee was higher back then so I decided against it.
I ordered about $160 worth of groceries. You can also input coupons! Which I had lots of as well! And King Soopers Doubles coupons up to $1, so that saves me even more money! I was able to set up delivery for the next day. I am happy with the result. I did order one thing wrong, but I can return them. Overall, I am very happy with the result! I will do it again for sure!
Then that got me to thinking. I really like the Target Up & Up brand diapers for Kasey. But I am even worse of an impulse shopper at Target. So, I was wondering about online shopping at Target. They have free shipping when you spend $50. I ordered diapers and belly bands for the dogs (a whole other story) which brought it to $63. So, I got the items I needed without having to walk through the store and give into temptation! I like this online shopping thing! I have a feeling this may be the best way for me to save money.
That is another reason I joined the gym. I found that if I didn't have anything to do while Courtney was at school I would go and walk around Target or other stores. My $60/month gym membership is a whole lot better than $100/week at Target or other stores! Funny how just spending a little bit of extra money can save me a TON of money!
Things remain busy here. Friday night we went to Boo at the Zoo. This is the Halloween thing they put on for the 2 weekends before Halloween every year. Friday night was the first night. It was also the ONLY night that all of us could go together as a family, so we planned that night. We also invited friends to meet us up there. Wouldn't you know that morning and whole day were ICKY. Rainy, cold, raw. Everyone kept saying "are we still going tonight?" I told them, "yep, rain or shine!" Wouldn't you know that by the time Boo at the Zoo started at 5:30pm the weather had cleared up and we were fine in light jackets! And I think the weather during the day scared a lot of people away because it wasn't very crowded! Usually it's super crowded so it was sooo nice to not have as many people there! It was a good time had by all! I still need to download pictures off my camera. When I do I will post some here.
Let's see what else? OH, Courtney had her first parent teacher conference! She did really well! She is a very smart girl and apparently behaves for the teachers! It was so nice to hear! I told Hubby "wow, we are good parents!" The only thing the teachers noticed was that she struggles with her fine motor skills. DUH, we told you that in the beginning! So, not news to us and the teachers are going to keep an eye on it.
Both girls are making strides growing up! Courtney finally learned how to "pump" on the swing to keep herself going. We were working on it all summer and finally last week she got it! That is so neat to see! Kasey the other day finally put 2 words together again for me. She brought me her shoes and said "shoes Mama". Maybe the kid will speak in sentences yet!
I have been working out at the gym at least 3 days a week. Getting in another day or two would be nice, but my schedule doesn't allow it usually.
My car started to have trouble starting recently. I took it to the dealership and they determined in a matter of moments that I had a bad battery. I don't know how that happens, the car is only a year and a half old! But that also means it's under warranty. So, I just leave my car with them, they change the battery and presto chango my car is good as new again! I could get used to this!
Have I mentioned that Hubby and I have been taking a Love and Logic class? My church offers the class. I am really enjoying it, it sure it teaching me a LOT, and the new way of parenting really seems to be working with Courtney.
This weekend we are going to see the Air Force Game! The weather is supposed to be in the mid 70's which will be so nice! Nana and Papa are going to come and hang out with the girls while we go tailgating and to the game. We are planning on bringing smoked turkey breasts and baked beans to contribute. We do this once a year and it's always so much fun, especially when the weather is nice.
Well, I can't think of much else that's been going on besides all the usual stuff. So I guess I will end it here. I will post pictures when I finally get them off my camera!

OY, my day in a nutshell!
I know I say it all the time, but I am going to say it again. How is life so busy? Maybe between the fact that I am on Ministry Team for MOPS, so that requires 2 extra meetings a month, plus outside work. And regular MOPS every Friday. Plus I agreed to redo the roster for my Sunday School class, which included re-typing the whole thing, so of course that takes time. Plus taking Courtney to school, picking her up. Now I am working out. The list goes on and on. I have felt pretty frazzled by it all recently. I couldn't figure out why, but I think I finally have. The house has gotten pretty messy recently, and I think having the house messy is what really leads me to feel chaotic. So, I have been working when I can to get everything back in order. But I still feel like I don't have time for that!
Here is how today went: got up, ate breakfast, wrestled the kids to get dressed. While all that is going on, Hubby is setting up my mom's new phone and I am unloading the dishwasher for Hubby to reload it and start it before we leave. Don't forget we also need to feed the animals, let them potty, get them locked up, all the gates up, trash on the counter and pantry door locked all before 9am when we need to be out the door. Which 9am is one hour later than the Mon-Fri schedule, so not bad!
From there it's to my parent's house to drop off the phone and pick up boxes to take to the zoo. Once at the zoo it's preschool time from 10-11am. After preschool, a quick feeding at the giraffes and then back to the car, down the hill to stop at my parents house again to pick up diapers because in our rush this morning, we forgot the diaper bag.
From there it's over to Rudy's restaurant where we meet up with the P's for lunch. That turned into a bit of a disaster due to one of the P kids being ill. So, lunch ended up being a bit crazy.
From there it was a quick stop at a local brewery to pick up some growlers (or jugs) of beer to try. Then home to get the kids to nap. Which, Courtney never made it there. Kasey did thank goodness. Meanwhile, I had some items listed for sale on Craigslist, and a lady came by to pick them up. Oh, and did I forget to mention that we are up to 4 dogs for the weekend? We are watching a friends dog who got dropped off yesterday and will get picked up tomorrow.
After a SHORT rest time for me, Hubby and Courtney which was basically sitting down to watch some of the Hokie football game, it was up and at 'em again. We had cleaning to do because we were having supper club meet at our house tonight. Most of the supper club folks were unable to make it, so it was just kind of a smaller pizza night, but we still had 8 adults and 4 kids here (including us). So, we had to vacuum, unload the dishwasher, move laundry, clean the kitchen, and other small things.
Then the guests arrived, we ate, we sat around and chatted, and the last guests left after the Air Force game was over, or about 9:45pm. I am now working on finishing up the roster I have to take to Sunday school tomorrow and I still need to take a shower before bed, and it's now 11:10pm.
This is just one day in the life of me. And it's pretty much like this every day. No wonder I feel so frazzled!
Ok, well, I guess I really need to stop writing and go get my work done so I can go take a shower!
HUGS!

Fall has arrived!
Well, Fall is certainly here. Today's weather was cool and rainy. I actually really like this weather, so it was fine by me. The only draw back is that I had to go down to church for a meeting, and the street and building create this wind tunnel that is chilly! And you have to stand at the super chilly wind tunnel corner and wait for the stop light, that always feels like it takes forever. But other than that, the air has just had that change in it. And it has just been cooler. I guess it really is here!
Thing here remain busy, but good. Courtney is busy with preschool. She has been making lots of friends and seems to be fitting in just fine. We will find out soon, we have our first student/teacher conference at the end of the month! I look forward to that.
Kasey had her 18 month old check up today. She checked out great! Her weight is starting to go up, finally. She still has a big head, and things are good with her height too. She got one shot and it didn't bother her too bad, so it might not be bad for after effects.
Our house has been busy with Cadets. Maddie is back! She is going to a school in Pueblo, so she was here this past weekend. She will be at this school for about a month, so we hope to see her a few more weekends.
We also have seen our freshman pretty regularly. It's nice. It makes things feel busy around here, but it's still nice.
Oh, I know what else is new. I (re) joined the Y (YMCA). I was a member when Courtney was about 2 years old, and I quit as soon as I found out I was pregnant. The nice thing is that this now fits into my schedule really well! I drop Courtney at preschool, and Kasey and I go to the Y. I know a couple people who work out there too, so it's nice to have someone to hold myself accountable to. The Child Watch where Kasey goes is really nice, and I am very happy with it! Since joining last Thursday, I have worked out 3 times already. My body is telling me about it... ugh. I also signed Kasey up for swim lessons. We will be able to get that done while Courtney is at preschool too! I am looking forward to getting in shape and busting up the last of that baby fat that seems to be hanging on around my mid section.
Other that that, things seem to be plugging along as normal. I am going to go and watch the miners in Chile get rescued! Hope all of you are well!

First Field Trip!
I was really hoping that once school started things would slow down. How is it possible that things have gotten busier?!
Courtney has been doing well in preschool. She had her first field trip in fact! We went to Bear Creek Nature Center. I haven't been there since elementary school! And actually the original place was burned down (due to arson) around 2000. So, now the place is all new. Well, new since the last time that I was there. Both of the girls had a great time. They had this really pretty indoor bridge over a small stream. Kasey wanted to be on the bridge the whole time. I Could NOT get her off the bridge! It was cute. Meanwhile, Courtney got to learn a whole lot about nature. She really enjoyed it.

We didn't have preschool that morning. The two preschool classes met for the field trip (the AM and PM classes). So, after the field trip we stopped at Wendy's after the field trip to get some lunch. Well, on the way home, the 2 girls crashed out in the back seat. Not unusual for Kasey, but highly unusual for Courtney. I guess all that nature wore them both out!

We got Courtney's school pictures back! They were taken the day before Courtney lost her tooth.
Kasey is my little comic relief. This past week Hubby was out of town, and between doctor's appointments, and flu shots, and field trips, it was a tough week. One night when it was bath night, I was in Courtney's room getting her PJ's while the tub was filling. Courtney was in the bathroom with Kasey when I hear: "Mom, you should come see this!" I walk into the bathroom, and there is Kasey, in the tub, with all her clothes on! Including socks! Oh the girl makes me laugh. I grabbed my camera, and when I told her to say 'cheese' she makes this silly face:
Fall is here! I know because we went to the Harvest Festival yesterday at Rock Ledge Ranch. They hold it every year on the first Saturday in October. I have taken Courtney the last 3 years. I just LOVE it! It's small, and a bit cheesy, but I just love it! We met our friends the P's there. I also ended up running into several moms from my MOPS group. It was fun! Here's the girls at the festival, Courtney's face is painted like a unicorn.
The rest of our Saturday was busy. After the festival we went to lunch at Rudy's with the P's. It was so tasty! After lunch, we headed home and got the girls down for nap. I headed out to a CABi party at my friend's house. First time I have been to a CABi party. It's a party that sells clothes. I guess there are home parties for everything! Except shoes, I haven't seen one for shoes yet.
After I got back from that, I had to wake Courtney up and it was off to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party. As we discovered Chuck E Cheese on a Saturday night is madness. But Courtney had a good time. Kasey had an OK time as well, so it wasn't all bad. But they were all sold out of beer and the food really leaves something to be desired. Chuck E. sat down and took a rest with Hubby and Ed (Hubby's partner at the office):
Today I helped out in Courtney's Sunday School class. A whole room of just or almost 4 year olds. That is something! They are quite funny!
After preschool was another party at Chuck E. Cheese. This one was for a girl from her preschool class. Just Courtney and I went this time, and it was so much quieter in there than the night before! And I got to know some of the other preschool parents a little better. That's always nice. I am sure I will know some of them for years to come!
After nap this afternoon we decorated our house for Halloween! We are still having record heat, so we might as well take advantage of it while we can! In fact, while Hubby and I were getting stuff put out, the girls played in the sprinkler I had put out to water the lawn (we still have a broken sprinkler line). Of course they did that in their clothes and Kasey was DRIPPING wet, but they had a good time. And I think our house looks great now! Here it is at dusk:

Well, it's shaping up to be another busy week! I have homework for Ministry team homework, Love and Logic homework, MOPS homework, and Sunday School homework. Plus all the other things that we have to do and get done in a normal week. Phew! Guess I better go and get some sleep while I can!
