Well, it's official! Today we celebrated our first graduate from the Air Force Academy. Our day started early, we were at the stadium at 8:30am. Graduation started at 10am, but the wanted everyone in the stadium by 9am. The last few days we have had really cold, rainy, and overcast weather so we were worried how today would be. But the rains stayed away all day and they look like they are just starting to move in now, at 9pm at night.
Joe Biden came to town to speak at the graduation. The speech was pretty boring. He kind of droned on and on about stuff. He had some good stuff, like when the telepromter blew over. He was able to make an on the fly joke about Obama being mad. But other than that, it was pretty much boring.
John (our cadet) was in squadon 38 (out of 40), so we had to wait until very close to the end! There were 1046 in the graduating class today. It was a long wait to get to cheer for John.
The performance by the Thunderbirds was awesome! I got some videos, you can find them on our website. Hubby also took lots of pictures, you can find them on our website too. I am just too tired to try to post any here tonight.
This morning before we left, I was telling Kasey to quit squirming so I could get her dressed. Courtney came over and told me "Mom, she can't control her legs". That made us chuckle. We are always telling her that Kasey has to learn how to control her arms and legs.
We left the girls at home with a babysitter. I got sunburned on my arm, even though I was wearing sunscreen! And I am worn out! I am off to bed!

Cinderella
I am such a sap. Or maybe I am just tired due to having a 6 weeks old. But my family would probably say "naw, you are a sap". Tonight we went and saw Grease up at the Air Force Academy. Our cadet, John, who is a senior and about to graduate, was in it. So was his girlfriend Jessica. The two of them have been spending large amounts of time at our house the last few weeks. It hit me watching John during the play that he was about to graduate and move to Texas. And I don't know if and/or when we will see him again. As soon as the play was over we met up with him out in the lobby. When I saw him I got tears in my eyes (that is where the sap part comes in). For 4 years he has been a part of our lives. We didn't always see him a lot during those 4 years, but we always kept in contact, emailing back and forth with occasional visits now and again.
Once he hit his senior year he started to really come around more. Plus his mom has stayed with us occasionally over the years as well. If she doesn't stay with us when she comes to town, we at least usually see her for a meal. Now here he is, at the end of his 4 years. It seems like it was just a short time ago that he was here on Doolies Day out. Hubby and I have been trying to think of a great gift to get him. We can't seem to come up with any great ideas. I just know that it hit me tonight just how much I am going to miss him. Here we are after the play tonight:
Well, other than that, thing are going well here. Kasey is gaining weight like a champ. So much different than her sister! I had to take her to the doctor this past week and she weighed in at 9 lbs 7 oz at 6 weeks old. She is right on target and doing well! I had to take her in because she seems to have been congested for the past few weeks. At first I thought she was getting a cold, but she doesn't have any discharge, she just sounds like her sinus are blocked or something. The Nurse Practitioner looked her over and determined that it appears that her reflux has caused her to get some formula up at the top of her nasal cavity and it probably dried there, causing her to sound congested. The only remedy is to steam her in the bathroom and put saline in her nose. So, we have been doing that regularly. She seems a little better, but not 100% clear yet.
Kasey has also been working on smiling. She also makes the cutest little noises! She almost makes a laugh noise. Here she is practicing her smile.

Here she is joining us for her first game of Risk!
Courtney found a bunch of coins in Hubby's Jeep. We let her collect them all into a container and bring them in. Then Hubby showed her how to sort them out. Here she is attempting to sort them. The pennies are easy for her of course. The silver coins are a little more difficult.
Courtney has been changing like you wouldn't believe! Her speaking has exploded. The things she says now a days just amaze us, she can hold a conversation with you like she is 25 and has been through college!
When I was in the hospital having Kasey my mom introduced Courtney to Cinderella. Ever since then she has been HOOKED on Cinderella. And now she is acting it out, it is so cute. One day we were at the mall, and she takes off her shoe and walks away from it. I asked her what she was doing and her reply was "it's my glass slipper, I left it behind".
Then a few nights later I was filling her tub for her bath and hollering at her to come into the bathroom (she was playing in her room). She comes running to the bathroom door, looks at me and says "oh, the clock is striking, I must go!" and ran away. And now she has started to pretend to cry like Cinderella in the garden. Whenever she talks on one of her play phones it's either to Cinderella or her fairy godmother. She now has princess shoes, clothes, books and the collection is growing. She is such a girly girl!
It's been a busy weekend here so far. Yesterday we had a wedding in the afternoon. So in the morning I took Courtney to my parents house. Kasey stayed with us, she is easy at a wedding. A 2 & 1/2 year old is another story. One of the other partners in Hubby's business got married. The ceremony and reception were in their backyard. Thankfully they rented a large tent because during the reception it started to pour rain! It lasted most of the rest of the reception, but we were all nice and dry under the tent.
Today we went out to breakfast and then to the garden store. I got some more flowers and a tomato plant. Ever since we planted a few pots of flowers a few weeks back, Courtney has been begging to do more. So, we got the tomato plant, and enough flowers to plant one more pot for us, plus another set of flowers that we planted in a pot for the Zeigners. That seems to appease Courtney. Hopefully now she will be satisfied just picking the tomatoes. I am not going to keep planting pots of flowers all summer long. I need to go back to the garden store and get zucchini plants again. That was fun last year too.
Then this afternoon we had a graduation party. Greg's daughter (same guy who got married yesterday) graduated from high school this week. So, we were back over at Greg's house for another party. We had to wake Courtney up from her nap to head over, but she appeared to have a good time once we got there. There were 2 other girls around her age there that she played with.
Then of course tonight we went and saw Grease. Tomorrow we are having John and his family over for a celebratory dinner. We bought a prime rib roast (it's HUGE) that we are going to smoke.
Tuesday we are going to get pictures of Kasey done professionally. Wednesday is the Air Force graduation. Thursday Courtney has an ENT appointment. Phew, it's going to be a busy week!!!
Well, I have got to go to bed! It's late and Kasey really likes to eat right about 4am.

Update
Hey folks, I feel like it's been forever since my last post. Sorry about that! I bet you all understand though!
So let's see, what have we been up to? Well, I survived my first week without Hubby around! Of course I had some great distractions with my sister and brother-in-law being here. That was wonderful. Plus the day after they left we went to dinner at the Z's house. The next night was My Gym and the next night was the night Hubby came home. Hubby surprised us by catching an earlier flight and getting home in time to put Courtney to bed. That was a great surprise!
Saturday was busy. I went to Kinsey's 2nd dance recital. It was so cute! The theme was Hollywood and Kinsey did a great job. It's so cute to watch a kids dance recital!
That evening was the zoo ball. The weather was iffy all day. So, they decided to move the cocktail hour indoors, so we were in the Gorilla/Chimpanzee house. Which means the zoo ball wasn't as exciting as it has been in years past. They did have Tigerlilly the skunk out for petting as well as a joey (baby) wallaby. Plus the zoo has declared this the year of the frog, so they had lots of frogs and toads to look at. And as usual the food was fabulous. They had lots of appetizers, including bacon wrapped scallops, which are my favorite. Dinner was yummy too! But they were running behind with everything. They were suppposed to have ended dinner and started the dancing by 9pm. But by 10:30pm they were just getting ready to wrap things up and I was trying really hard to not fall asleep. You know that 9pm is my usual bed time nowadays. So, we left around 10:30pm because we were both exhauted. We picked up the kids from my parents house and headed for home. Here we are at the zoo ball.
The next day the weather was beautiful, so Courtney got in some outdoors time. She loves her sandbox.
The weather has been nice here all week so far. We are definalty heading for summer!
Kasey is doing really well. She had one night this week that she slept from 9pm-5am! I couldn't beleive it! But that was only one night this week. Although she is pretty much sleeping 9pm-3:30am right now. Then she is up again about 5am. Not too bad! Courtney did the same thing for a long time. She woke up at 4am almost every morning for months.
We are settling into our groove now which is nice. I am really enjoying this time with the girls. Maybe a bit too much! It's still hard to get used to saying "the girls" or "the kids". Kasey is 6 weeks old today, and I am still not used to it!

Time with Susan
So, Susan and Zak surprised me on Mother's Day. We spent the whole day down at my parents house. Monday they had to go back up to Greeley to try to figure out which house to make an offer on, and to make an offer once they did. They did find one they liked, they did make an offer and after a few counteroffers, their offer was accepted yesterday! So they are on the road to becoming homeowners!
On the way home from Greeley on Monday, they picked up pizzas and stopped by the house. Mom, Susan and Zak joined Courtney, Kasey and I for dinner. That was nice!
Yesterday the weather was beautiful. In fact the temperature was in the low 80's so it actually felt like summer. So, Susan and Zak went with the girls and I to the zoo! It was Kasey's first trip. I had a great time and I believe Courtney did too. Kasey slept the whole time, so her first trip to the zoo wasn't too exciting for her. Courtney feeds the giraffes all on her own and has for a while. A stranger nearby commented how she couldn't believe that Courtney wasn't afraid of them! I said "she started feeding them at 9 months old!" Even back then she didn't have a fear of them!
Here are some great pictures from the zoo yesterday:

I swear that giraffe is smiling!!!

After the zoo we went back to my parents house. Courtney napped there. After nap we played outside since it was such a nice day. Courtney loves to be pulled around the yard in a wagon. Zak figured out that so does Chula. So, Courtney pulled her around the yard too.

Zak grilled brauts and hamburgers for us and we ate outside to enjoy the beautiful evening. Courtney got to bed late last night, but we had so much fun yesterday it was ok!
It was so great to spend time with Susan and Zak. I am really looking forward to when the move here!

Surprise!
I went to my parents' house today to celebrate Mother's Day. Upon my arrival, my mom said "I have something for you". So, we went to the kitchen where she gave me this:
She told me Susan and Zak sent me a Mother's Day card. Then she told me to turn it over. Here is the back of the card:
2 seconds later this popped out from behind the curtains:

What a FABULOUS surprise!!! I had NO clue they were coming for a visit! The arrived a few nights ago and then spent the last few days up house hunting in Greeley. They have to go back up tomorrow to hopefully make an offer on a house.
But they will be around Tuesday and we are hoping to maybe go to the zoo, or something. It will give us all some quality time together. I was so happy to see them!!!

Happy Mother's Day
I am enjoying a beer. It's been so long since I have had alcohol.
Kasey passed her 1 month check up with flying colors. She weighed in at 8lbs 8oz. It's so different than how things were with Courtney. We were praying every week for her weight checks that she put some weight on! And here is Kasey putting the weight on like a champ. But then again, she eats like a champ too. Now sleeping is a whole other issue. The doctor said we should be getting at least a 5 hour stretch at night. HA! I am thrilled when we get an occasional 4 hour stretch, but usually it's more like 2.
Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so Happy Mother's day to all you wonderful Mom's out there! Take a day off, cause I know you deserve it!
We have been seeing a lot of our cadet who is a senior, and his girlfriend. They have been over almost every weekend for the past few weeks. Today they gave me Mother's Day flowers. How sweet is that? This will be our first cadet to graduate. Graduation is in about 2 and a half weeks. Joe Biden the vice prez is scheduled to speak. We plan on attending if we can work it out.
It was so beautiful here all week, weather wise. So today, when we saw our outdoor thermometer saying it was mid-50's, we decided to take Courtney to the park. Well, the wind was blowing and the wind was chilly. So, we didn't stay very long, but we let her get some run around time. I swung on the swing with Kasey in my front pack.
I have been walking about every other day. Pushing the double stroller up the hills in my neighborhood is really quite a work out!
Well, it's past my bedtime and I still have to get some laundry done. Again, Happy Mother's Day!

1 month
A lot of people ask us how Courtney is doing with the whole new baby thing. She loves her sister. She calls her "my baby". The last time I took the girls to my parents house, I put Kasey on a chair in her car seat. My mom and dad walked up to her to look in on her, and Courtney runs over and gets between them and the car seat and says "no, my baby! Back up!" And she made them each back up. So, you see, she is quite happy having the new baby around. She always wakes up each morning wondering where the baby is. And if the baby cries she makes us stop everything and comfort the baby until she stops crying.
So, Kasey is 1 month old now today! It's hard to believe it has already been a month! She is on Prevacid now, and she seems to be better. She doesn't seem to be experiencing as much pain. That is always a good good thing.
Bristol had to go to the vet this week. He has an eye infection. At least it's nothing major. So, he is on eye drops several times a day until Monday.
Hubby played with Kasey's hair and here is the result:
And I don't remember how it happened but Courtney got blue all underneath her nose. It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but under her nose is indeed blue!
We are trying to ease into our new routine of having Courtney at daycare part time. It's an adjustment for both me and her. She is now there Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I pick her up after lunch and bring her home for nap time. Then she is home all day Thursday and Friday. That is where we are trying to find our groove.
Kasey goes for her 1 month appointment today. 1 minor shot today and a weight check basically. Next month begins the heavy duty shots.
Hubby goes on his first trip next week since Kasey was born. That will be a bit trying. Kasey is still up about every 2 hours to eat, so it's going to be a long week.
I swear Kasey smiles at me now. I know she is still a bit young for this, but I swear she does it!
Well, gotta go and play with the kid.

Foggy Day
Look at the size difference between my two girls!
Today was a super foggy day. I love foggy days. I love the gray overcast weather. Hubby may feel a little different at the moment though. He went golfing today. I think it maybe MAYBE hit 40 degrees, so it was a cold, misty, wet day for him.
I know, you are asking yourself, why would he go golfing? Well, one of our freshman cadets we sponsor invited him to play in a tournament up at the Academy. And even though the weather was yucky, the tournament was still on. As those of you who golf know, you only refrain from golfing if it's lightning or hailing. Otherwise you play!
So, the girls and I headed down to my parents house for the day. Courtney loved playing with Nana and Papa as usual. She made muffins, played with Playdoh, read books, and all kinds of things. And when Courtney was napping, my mom took care of Kasey and I got a good solid 3 hour nap. It was wonderful, thanks Mom!!
After dinner, we came home and I gave Courtney a bath. Hubby put Courtney to bed while I fed Kasey. I was sitting in Kasey's room feeding her, which is next to Courtney's room. The house was so quiet except for the rain falling on the roof, and the muffled sounds of Hubby and Courtney singing in the next room as he put her to bed. The dogs were lying around enjoying the peace and quiet also. It was one of those moments that just made me smile and think "now this is the life!"
I finished my class officially yesterday! Looks like I got an A!! I am so glad to be done with Business Law.
Courtney is now part time in day care. So, yesterday (Friday) Courtney stayed home with Kasey and I. I was actually a little nervous about having both girls together by myself. But, the day went well. I think I will be able to manage this just fine. It will take us a while to get into a routine but once we do, it should be okay.
Kasey is doing ok. She is still on Zantac, but I am pretty sure on Tuesday we will have to bump her up to Prevacid. Poor kid still has pretty bad gas, and exhibits some signs of being in pain. So, nights still aren't very smooth yet. I don't even know if Prevacid will fix that. I think only time will.
Hubby and I have a system worked out where I go to bed about 9pm and get a few hours of good sleep. He stays up with Kasey until the last feeding around 11pm, then he comes to bed. I get the midnight to morning shift. So any feedings after midnight I do. Kasey has been in a habit of getting up some time between 4 and 5am and after eating she does not want to be put down. So, for about the last week or more I have been up about 4am every morning for the day! UGH.
But here is what I have learned about the neighborhood thanks to Kasey. Our milk delivery person comes between 4am and 4:15am on Tuesday mornings. Our paper delivery person really needs a new muffler on their car, as their car is quite loud, and they delivery just about 4am also. And did you know that the birds start chirping right about 4am?
Well, it's after 9pm which means it's past my bedtime. So I better go to bed!
