Cinderella

I am such a sap. Or maybe I am just tired due to having a 6 weeks old. But my family would probably say "naw, you are a sap". Tonight we went and saw Grease up at the Air Force Academy. Our cadet, John, who is a senior and about to graduate, was in it. So was his girlfriend Jessica. The two of them have been spending large amounts of time at our house the last few weeks. It hit me watching John during the play that he was about to graduate and move to Texas. And I don't know if and/or when we will see him again. As soon as the play was over we met up with him out in the lobby. When I saw him I got tears in my eyes (that is where the sap part comes in). For 4 years he has been a part of our lives. We didn't always see him a lot during those 4 years, but we always kept in contact, emailing back and forth with occasional visits now and again.

Once he hit his senior year he started to really come around more. Plus his mom has stayed with us occasionally over the years as well. If she doesn't stay with us when she comes to town, we at least usually see her for a meal. Now here he is, at the end of his 4 years. It seems like it was just a short time ago that he was here on Doolies Day out. Hubby and I have been trying to think of a great gift to get him. We can't seem to come up with any great ideas. I just know that it hit me tonight just how much I am going to miss him. Here we are after the play tonight:

Well, other than that, thing are going well here. Kasey is gaining weight like a champ. So much different than her sister! I had to take her to the doctor this past week and she weighed in at 9 lbs 7 oz at 6 weeks old. She is right on target and doing well! I had to take her in because she seems to have been congested for the past few weeks. At first I thought she was getting a cold, but she doesn't have any discharge, she just sounds like her sinus are blocked or something. The Nurse Practitioner looked her over and determined that it appears that her reflux has caused her to get some formula up at the top of her nasal cavity and it probably dried there, causing her to sound congested. The only remedy is to steam her in the bathroom and put saline in her nose. So, we have been doing that regularly. She seems a little better, but not 100% clear yet.

Kasey has also been working on smiling. She also makes the cutest little noises! She almost makes a laugh noise. Here she is practicing her smile.

Here she is joining us for her first game of Risk!

Courtney found a bunch of coins in Hubby's Jeep. We let her collect them all into a container and bring them in. Then Hubby showed her how to sort them out. Here she is attempting to sort them. The pennies are easy for her of course. The silver coins are a little more difficult.

Courtney has been changing like you wouldn't believe! Her speaking has exploded. The things she says now a days just amaze us, she can hold a conversation with you like she is 25 and has been through college!

When I was in the hospital having Kasey my mom introduced Courtney to Cinderella. Ever since then she has been HOOKED on Cinderella. And now she is acting it out, it is so cute. One day we were at the mall, and she takes off her shoe and walks away from it. I asked her what she was doing and her reply was "it's my glass slipper, I left it behind".

Then a few nights later I was filling her tub for her bath and hollering at her to come into the bathroom (she was playing in her room). She comes running to the bathroom door, looks at me and says "oh, the clock is striking, I must go!" and ran away. And now she has started to pretend to cry like Cinderella in the garden. Whenever she talks on one of her play phones it's either to Cinderella or her fairy godmother. She now has princess shoes, clothes, books and the collection is growing. She is such a girly girl!

It's been a busy weekend here so far. Yesterday we had a wedding in the afternoon. So in the morning I took Courtney to my parents house. Kasey stayed with us, she is easy at a wedding. A 2 & 1/2 year old is another story. One of the other partners in Hubby's business got married. The ceremony and reception were in their backyard. Thankfully they rented a large tent because during the reception it started to pour rain! It lasted most of the rest of the reception, but we were all nice and dry under the tent.

Today we went out to breakfast and then to the garden store. I got some more flowers and a tomato plant. Ever since we planted a few pots of flowers a few weeks back, Courtney has been begging to do more. So, we got the tomato plant, and enough flowers to plant one more pot for us, plus another set of flowers that we planted in a pot for the Zeigners. That seems to appease Courtney. Hopefully now she will be satisfied just picking the tomatoes. I am not going to keep planting pots of flowers all summer long. I need to go back to the garden store and get zucchini plants again. That was fun last year too.

Then this afternoon we had a graduation party. Greg's daughter (same guy who got married yesterday) graduated from high school this week. So, we were back over at Greg's house for another party. We had to wake Courtney up from her nap to head over, but she appeared to have a good time once we got there. There were 2 other girls around her age there that she played with.

Then of course tonight we went and saw Grease. Tomorrow we are having John and his family over for a celebratory dinner. We bought a prime rib roast (it's HUGE) that we are going to smoke.

Tuesday we are going to get pictures of Kasey done professionally. Wednesday is the Air Force graduation. Thursday Courtney has an ENT appointment. Phew, it's going to be a busy week!!!

Well, I have got to go to bed! It's late and Kasey really likes to eat right about 4am.
