Smoke Alarm Steak

Well, Sunday was a pretty quiet day around our house. We planned on putting another coat of stain on the deck, but the deck was wet from overnight dew in the morning, and was not even close to dry by race time. So, we decided that would have to wait. We checked on the deck later in the day, and it still had some wet patches. The deck doesn't get any sun. So, we will have to try to stain another time.

Anyway, we watched the race (good race). I am on a fantasy racing league with my brother-in-law and for the first time this racing season, I am kicking HIS behind! Most of the season, I wasn't doing so well and he let me know about it, but now, I am in third place. My nephew (Jackson, age 1) is still beating me though. He is in 2nd place. That kid sure can pick drivers!

After the race was the Bronco game. I only kind of watched it. We did win (yea)! I also put away 3 loads of laundry. Jeez, I am always doing laundry!

Well, I think when a Fisette heads to Florida a hurricane is bound to hit! It was Charley when Suzi was there, Jeanne while Uncle Walter is there, and we will be there next. That doesn't bode well for us! But, looking at the National Weather Service site, it looks like Karl and Lisa will not affect Florida (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml). Phew, that is a relief! But Uncle Walter, Barb and Kyle made it though fine, and Brian's family seems to have been okay also. I know Jacques and Ana are okay, but I don't know yet if Mike and Lucy had any damage.

When we moved into the house, we noticed a large hole in the backyard in the grass. Grass had grown in the hole, but for some reason we just had this large sunk in area. It makes for mowing the grass over there tough. So, since we had lots of leftover dirt from the tree planting, we decided to fill the hole and put seed down. So, we did. Well, about an hour later, Buddy came in from outside and his muzzle was covered in dirt. He had unburied the hole for us. Now dirt was all around the hole, and the hole is still there. Due to his digging in dirt habit, I am not sure how we are going to fill that hole and allow grass to grow... This may need some thought.

Later in the evening, Esten came over for dinner. Brian made smoke alarm steaks. This is where he sears the steaks in a cast iron skillet, then puts the steak and skillet in a hot oven and bakes the steaks for a little bit. MMMM, they are so tasty that way. He doesn't make them that often because it's not the easiest to do and also it always sets off the smoke alarm (hence the name of the dish). Later Rick came over and we just hung out and played a game of dominoes, and watched Extreme Makeover, Home Edition. I just love that show!

Well, that was our Sunday. Hope everyone is well!
