14 weeks

Do you know how amazing dogs are? They truly are amazing creatures. We had Canine Companions for independence come into the store yesterday for our staff meeting. First of all, these dogs are so incredibly smart! They way they care for their owners! The stories we heard yesterday were truly amazing! Many moved me to tears! (of course that's pretty easy these days!) We had two “puppy handlers” in. They are volunteers who take these dogs the first 1 ½ to 2 years of the dog's life and start their training. They are in charge of socializing them and teaching them 33 commands. When that time is up, the dogs goes to boot camp for 6 months to a year and gets extensive training. And then they are paired with their new owner. And the way they pair them depends on each person's needs, and the dog's strengths. They do a lot of dogs for people who are paralyzed, deaf, and such. Simply amazing stories!

Our puppy handlers did bring their current puppies in. One was 11 months and the other was 14 months old. Such a great program! I am truly amazed!

Well, I have now made it to 14 weeks pregnant. This past week was a tough week for me. I was extremely tired. On Thursday we had a doctor's appointment. We heard the heartbeat! So far so good! According to my doctor's scale I have finally gained 3 pounds. I was worried, because I wasn't gaining any weight. But the doctor says things are going well so far! Next appointment is May 10. That is the BIG day! We will find out what we are having, boy or girl!!! And we will get to see a lot of the baby! I can't wait for that day!

When you are pregnant, some of the oddest things can happen to your body. I have been stuffy (sinus stuffy) since I found out that I was pregnant. That is very common. So, apparently, are nose bleeds. I hadn't had that symptom until last night. Then I got a whopper of a nose bleed. We almost had to go to the ER. I have never had a nose bleed like that in my life! But, after about 20 minutes and several ice packs and a BOX of tissues, it slowed and then stopped. Our humidity levels right now in Colorado are so low that they have us under a red flag warning. That means fire danger is extremely high! So, I am sure that didn't help my poor nose any. We ran the humidifier last night and we are leaving it to run today, all day. Hopefully that will help my poor nose!

Hubby says I should post the links to what the baby is doing now, at 14 weeks. So, I will post the link here and if you are interested, you can follow the link and learn each week about the baby's progression. The funniest part to me is that they compare the baby to food each week!

We did more furniture shopping this weekend. We each got a desk. We agreed to start by getting the office clean and organized, and then we will move our way down the hallway and eventually into the baby's room. Bit by bit, we are getting there.

I am off to do laundry!
