Phew, what a week

So, as you know my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last Tuesday. We met with her surgeon that afternoon who laid out the plan of attack for a worst case scenario. The first step was surgery which was scheduled for Friday. My mom decided to have a double (bi-lateral) mastectomy. She also had to have her sentinel node for her right arm removed and checked for cancer which they did during the surgery.

Friday morning finally came, and she went into surgery right at 10:15am, on time! 2 hours later the surgeon came out and let us know that the sentinel nodes were clear of cancer!!!! We could not have asked for better news!!! WHOO HOOO!!!! So, it looks like the cancer was caught early and contained to the breast!

Friday night she was super sore and on a morphine drip. Zak stayed overnight with her in the hospital that night. There was talk about sending her home the next day. Thankfully the doctor let her stay in another day, so she had another 24 hours in the hospital. I stayed with her on night 2.

We brought her home yesterday afternoon. I think she was really glad to be home. She says she is doing ok. She sound like she is doing pretty well. Susan is going to come back down from Greeley to stay with her and my dad a few more days. They had gone home on Sunday morning.

We meet with her Oncologist tomorrow afternoon to find out the next step in the plan of attack. She will be having chemotherapy for sure, we will find out tomorrow when it starts. We still aren't sure about the radiation or hormone therapy yet. Most likely she won't have to have radiation.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Kasey finally rolled over from her stomach to her back on the same day my mom was diagnosed with cancer. We had been anxiously awaiting this day. The kid HATES being stuck on her tummy. So, she finally figured out how to fix it! Now she rolls all over the place!

I formed a team for the upcoming (very soon) Susan G Komen walk. Our team is "The Fighting Ta-Tas". Please come walk with us on Sunday Sept 13th! If you aren't able to walk, please make a donation to our team! We only have 2 weeks to try to hit our goal of $1000.

You can donate or join our team here: http://race.komencs.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=1080&px=1306644

Well, sorry this is short folks, but I have a million things to do. I will keep you all updated!!
