So, now I know how much your kids can scare the CRAP out of you... I suspected Courtney was getting a cold over the weekend. Tuesday I took her to the pediatrician because she was complaining of a sore throat. I took Kasey too because she was coughing a lot.
Anyway, the pediatrician looked Courtney over and tested her for strep which turned out negative. The diagnosis was just a cold. Brought her home, pushed fluids and lots of Popsicles. Put her to bed that night about 7:30pm and she just about passed out (which is odd for her). About 9pm that night I heard her in the bathroom gasping to breath. I ran up the stairs, she said she needed to go potty. But I had other ideas. I called my neighbor and asked her to run over. She did, and I loaded up Courtney and headed for the ER. My neighbor stayed at the house with Kasey.
They diagnosed her with croup pretty fast. They also said she was having pretty bad strider, which is what they call the wheezing or something like that. My friend Kelly came down to be with us, for which I am so grateful. It was pretty scary for me there for a while.
After an oral dose of steroids and a breathing treatment of steroids, they decided to keep Courtney over night to make sure she would still be stable when the steroids wore off. So, she and I stayed overnight at the hospital. We arrived at the hospital about 10pm, we got to our room in the pediatric unit about 1:30am and by the time we were finally alone and able to turn out the lights it was 2:30am. Courtney had been awake that whole time. She finally fell asleep about 2:45am and was awake at 6am. It was a LONG night. We were finally discharged about 1pm on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Dana went to our house and took over care of Kasey for our neighbor, and Hubby's parents arrived in town. They ended up having to take a cab to the house since I was supposed to pick them up, but was unable. When Courtney and I arrived home Dana was still here as were Hubby's parents. We finally got both girls down for a nap and I took one too. And all of us slept extremely sound last night.
Courtney is doing much better. She had her last dose of steroids tonight, so she is now done with those thank goodness. Apparently with croup the first night is always the worst and it get better from there. So, the good news is that we are DONE with the first night! But I really really hope I never have to go through that again. It was really scary!!!!
So, Hubby's parents have arrived, they are going to take care of the girls this weekend while I head out to Myrtle Beach to meet up with Hubby. Yes, I get 4 days and 3 night of kid free time with Hubby! We fly back Tuesday and Hubby's parents stay until Friday.
Hope all of you are well!

Oh sooo scary!! I'm glad it turned out OK. Aiden had croup when he was 18 months and it was scary as hell! Didn't have to stay in the hospital at least. You and Brian have a great time together!! Don't do anything I wouldn't do....
