I took the girls to the North Pole for their first trip ever. I went with another Mommy that I met at the zoo, she has a girl Addison who turns 4 in about 2 weeks, and a 6 month old daughter as well.
Here's my girls at the front gate:
Courtney took this picture!
If you are not familiar with the North Pole, I will do my best to explain it, but you can check them out at their website: (http://www.santas-colo.com) It's an amuesment park for smaller kids, probably ages3-8 mostly. It has rides, nothing too big or wild, more smaller and slower things. And of course Santa is there year round. It's been open forever, well at least since 1956 anyway. Courtney got a kick out of the rides and rode as many as she could for the 3 hours that we were there before it closed. Kasey saw most of the park this way:Here's Courtney and Addison on the Tilt-O-Whirl with me.
Before we headed for home, we stopped in the bathroom for a potty break. Imagine my surprise when I was looking at the picture on the wall and saw my sister! At about 8 years old! (she's the one on the far right)
Anyway, it was a great time, the girls had a blast, the weather was great, overall a fun day. We stopped at my parents house on the way home (since we were on that end of town, kind of) for dinner. We hadn't seen my mom since she got home from Ireland the week before, so it was good to see her again!
The rest of the week was standard stuff. I did start my summer program at church. Since MOPS doesn't run in the summer, this is kind of their alternative. They had 3 different options you could choose from. I chose the Bible study. I have actually never done a Bible study before. So, I am learning as I go. Right now I am WAY behind in our study book thing. I missed the first week because I was on my way back from Myrtle Beach. So, I didn't get my book until this past Tuesday. So I have a week to catch up on, plus this weeks section to read, and I haven't read any yet... OOPS! I have a lot of reading to do over the next few nights.
Wednesday Courtney had her OT as usual. Sometime she does great, some times I realize how different she is from a lot of kids. This was one of those weeks... I am starting to feel a little nervous about pre-school in the fall. But her therapist assures me we will get though it...
Thursday was zoo preschool. We learned about grizzly bears this week. We have learned about them before, but they are still just so cute! Emmit and Digger are our two bears at the zoo. I could just squeeze them!
Friday I took the girls to get haircuts, and then a quick swing through the mall. I had to pick up a few small items at Bath and Body Works, so we also picked up some pretzel bites to snack on and then stopped at the play structure to play. Hey, why not! We have time!
Add in a few play dates with the neighbor across the street and week one of Hubby's trip was over in a flash!
Today we spent the day at my parents' house. It's been a while since they have gotten a play day down there. We set up the pool, and basically spent the day outdoors enjoying the HOT weather. We had all the umbrellas up for shade and in the afternoon at Walmart we picked up a small EZ up shade tent. We put that up over the pool and the girls spent the afternoon playing in the pool, in the shade. It was quite nice. We also ate lunch and dinner outside. Ahh, you just gotta love days like that...
Tomorrow the girls and I are headed up to meet Addison and her mom at the Children's Museum in Denver. Ironically Addison's dad is on a 2 week trip at the moment too!
Well, time is escaping me. I need to go start some laundry and then get to reading! I hope everyone is well!!!
