We think she's a little OCD because she can't stand it if a door is left open. She has to shut it. This includes door at other people's houses, the zoo, anywhere. She also loves to do laundry, today she helped me by pushing a basket to the top of the stairs all by herself.
Yesterday she also blew me away because she was helping me unload the dishwasher (as usual) and when we got to the top rack, she grabbed the right lids to go with the correct cups. And they weren't even her cups! One was mine and one was Courtney's! Of course she did get all of her own right as well. But wow! She also stacked all of Courtney's Princess cups before getting them out of the dishwasher. That is 4 cups! Little girl amazes me. She also tries really hard to put the silverware in the silverware drawer. She can just barley reach the drawer, so she usually puts all the silverware right in the front of the drawer, and I have to go back and put them all in the correct spots, but hey, it's still helpful!
Well, last night we totally fed her shoe obsession. I was cleaning the basement and I came across a whole BOX of shoes in the size she is going into! After her bath she saw it in her room and opened it up. Oh she was in heaven. She kept repeating "shoes, shoes, shoes, shoes", and she kept pulling pair after pair out. She was a happy little girl. She made Hubby put a pair of pale pink crocs on her, over her PJ's, that she wore until bed time. This morning she came into our room wearing a pair of red crocs over her PJs (that Hubby help her put on).
The poor girl also still seems to be teething. She appears to be trying to get all 4 eye teeth in at once, you can see them all bulging in her gums. She chews on her fingers like mad. That is her favorite teething tool, and about the only thing she will chew on. Her nose has been running like a faucet of course. Tylenol seems to make her happy, but I don't want the poor kid on Tylenol for a week! So, I only use it when she is really grumpy, that seems to be when she is in the most pain.
Let's see what else is new? Well, Courtney survived her first week of preschool. In fact she got a green slip of paper for going out of her way to be kind to a classmate! Progress?!?!
It's so hard not knowing what Courtney does while she is there. Of course when I ask her what she learned that day I get the typical kid answer, "nothing". I need to get in touch with her teacher to see if they do a theme of the week or something. So I can have SOME idea of what she is doing and what is going on.
Friday we had our friends the P's over for dinner. Makala is 7 months old now. We gave her the first taste of solid food. We chopped up some bananas really small and fed them to her. We aren't sure just how many actually ended up in her mouth versus her chair.
Yesterday we celebrated Hailey's 4th birthday at My Gym. That is the place that Courtney used to go. She walked in and it was like she hadn't missed a beat! She had a blast! Which now has us considering taking her back there. If we did, I would put Kasey in a class as well. We just really need to think about it because it does cost a bit of money.Today we celebrated Hailey's 4th birthday with her family. Now that the kids are getting older, the Z's have a kid party and then a family party. We are lucky enough to be invited to both! As usual it was a good time. It's nice to go the family party. We have been friends for so long that seeing the Z's extended family is like seeing our own extended family. It's always good to catch up with everyone! We typically get to see all of them about every 6 months because of the way the girls birthdays fall. We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends like the Z's in our life.
Courtney has been quite funny when saying prayers recently. A few weeks ago she said "God, when I grow up I want to be a horse, so when I get older would you please turn me into a horse?" So cute! Today she said "Thank you God for Hailey and Kinsey, it was nice to be invited to the party today." All on her own, no prompting! It's good to hear that she does have appreciation for her friends. I guess she is growing up. Heck, she will be 4 in 13 days! Where does the time go?
If you look through the gallery I should warn you. Courtney has been taking lots of pictures with my camera. I have kept them and uploaded them too. Just to let you know!
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is coming up on September 12. I have raised some serious money! Our team still isn't to their goal, so I am still campaigning for more, but I am so happy with all the donations I have received this far! Thank you to all who have donated!
Well, time to go spend time with my kiddos!
