School Conferences

Had school conferences today.  Kasey was on the hot seat first.  But as expected, her first ever parent teacher conference went very well.  She's a good girl, helpful, cheerful, bright.... nothing unexpected!

Next up was Courtney.  The teacher had sent home a sheet asking a bunch of different questions one of which was what we would like her goals to be.  We wrestled with that one a long time!  How do you set goals for a girl who blows you away with her knowledge every day!  We finally just wrote we had no idea....

So, we went to her conference and as expected were blown away.  She's on the high end of average in language and math for the nation (against all 1st graders).  And for the district she is super high up there!  She is reading at a 3rd grade level.  Her handwriting has improved dramatically over the past month.  Her knowledge of science and math is unfathomable to me!  She did a science test where she wrote about solids and liquids.  I didn't read all of it, but one sentence I read said that liquids are viscus.  The teacher said they did not have the properties of liquids and gases available at the time of the test to look at.  She remembered that all on her own!

Jeez, it feels like in 2 years we are gong to have to send her to MIT just to have her challenged!!!

That's wonderful! My nephew was always like that, too--he's now 15 years old, in 11th grade, attending a special science and engineering high school full time AND carrying a full-time university class load on scholarship. Sounds like you have a like wonder on your hands!
