Poor Baby!

Well, things remain busy here for us. Friday the baby had another swallow test. When she went to the food clinic, they thought they detected swallowing issues still, so they had us do her 3rd one. And yes indeed, she still has a delayed swallow. She also aspirated for the first time during the test, meaning the liquid went into her lungs. So, they asked that we start thickening her formula with a thickener. Also they took her off straws and sippy cups. So, she will be on bottles for a while.

After the LONG swallow test, we took her to daycare. I had mentioned to Hubby while we were waiting for our swallow test that she felt warm. Well, about 30 minutes after I dropped her off at daycare, they called and said she was running a fever of 101.7 degrees. So, I went up to get her. I have never felt her that hot! She was hot head to toe! She was not like that when we dropped her off, so it must have hit right after we left.

So, I brought her home and gave her Motrin, and called the doctor’s office. The baby didn’t have any other symptoms of any illness other than a very high temp. So, they told me to keep an eye on her and treat the fever with Motrin. She was pretty clingy that whole afternoon, and sleepy. We had a hard time getting her fever down.

The next morning she still had a high fever, so we took her to the doctor’s office. Lucky for us, her regular doctor was there! Since she was exposed to roseola at day care a few weeks ago, the doctor suspected that is what it was. So, we brought her home and babied her.

Later in the afternoon her spots started appearing. So, it does indeed look like its roseola. We kept treating her with Motrin and her fever wouldn’t drop. We finally gave her Tylenol and what a difference! So, I guess for her Tylenol is the fever reducer. She still has a slight fever this morning, but she is much perkier. She also has spots all over her face.

So, we have a couple days of dealing with this. We were supposed to all go to a bbq together this afternoon, but since she looks so bad, and isn’t feeling 100%, Nana is going to come and baby-sit her. She will have fun with Nana.

Well, I need to go and feed her breakfast!
