Settling in

Well, Kasey is 2 weeks old now! The first week was pure baby bliss! Yesterday around 4:30am she had a pretty bad gas attack and was pretty miserable all day yesterday. I finally got her some anti-gas medication from Walgreens, and we started giving it to her last night. It seems to finally be working! She is actually asleep in the swing for the second time today! Yesterday she wouldn't let us put her down at all. Ahh, back to baby bliss! Let's hope it lasts.

We had a weight check on Monday morning, and she did really well! She weighed in at 7lbs 1.5oz! Very good to hear!

Meanwhile, Courtney has been complaining off and on of stomach pain for a while. We have been to the doctor several times for it in fact. Finally she did a blood draw. Blood draw came up negative for anything. SO, we are trying eliminating dairy for 2 weeks to see if we still get complaints of stomach pains.

Hubby is back to work this week. Sounds like things are busy there. If this baby continues to be this good all the time, I may go stir crazy before August! But in a few weeks things will get more interesting. We are taking Courtney down to just part time 3 days a week in daycare. That way she can spend time with me and the baby. I am looking forward to zoo outings and play dates.

Courtney feels like a giant to me now! She was always so little, but now there is someone much littler in the house! It's so odd feeling!

So, the name game. Where did Kasey Marie come from? Well, we went to the hospital thinking she would be named either Abigale, Katelyn, or Elizabeth, with the middle name of Marie. While I was in labor, we discussed the name Kasey. Hubby's cousin and sister had recommended Casey, but we didn't like it spelled with a C. So, we added Kasey to the list while I was in labor at the hospital.

Once she came out and we spent some time with her, we realized she didn't look like a Katelyn, Abigale or Elizabeth. She looked like a Kasey. Marie is my middle name as well as Hubby's sisters. And now Kasey has the same initials as me, just like I had the same initials as my mom with my maiden name. So, it worked out well on many levels. We ended up naming her about 10am the day after she was born!

Now with Courtney, she was either going to be Courtney Marie or Colette Marie. But after spending time with her we still couldn't decide. Until I said to Hubby 'what about Courtney Colette?'. And that just seemed to flow well, and fit her. Colette is the name of Hubby's aunt who he really admired and looked up to. She passed away from ALS in 2002, shortly before Hubby and I got married. I think we named Courtney about 5am on day 2. And we were able to use Marie with Kasey! Funny how life works out.

Well, I need to go and take advantage of the time while the kid is asleep! Hope everyone is well!
