Croup...
Used to be a word that scared the dickens out of me. Probably because it used to be unknown. Croup is now a word I use frequently. Thanks to Kasey. As most of you remember, Courtney got croup over the summer and it landed her in the hospital. That was my first taste of croup. Although looking back I am pretty sure Kasey had it a few days before her, just not nearly as bad. So, my first taste of croup was really scary!
Kasey has croup again. I think this is about the fifth time for her? Apparently you can get a kid who is more prone to croup. Guess what I got? Lucky me! Thankfully she hasn't had to frequent the hospital for it. Thankfully we do our best to outsmart it with breathing treatments and if that doesn't work, we keep the oral steroid on hand. So, she started with a croupy cough on Sunday. Monday night we gave her the steroid. She is still kind of croupy, but much better. As much as we are prepared for this, it still stops life a bit. I can't leave her in any kind of day/child care, so any plans I had have to be altered.
This week I had plans for a massage. Thankfully Whitney watched her for me. Today I had a dental appointment. Kim was going to watch her, but then her kid got sick. And the steroids also lower Kasey's immune system, so she is more susceptible to get sick. SO, she had to spend some time at Daddy's office with him. I am not sure what I am going to do about MOPS tomorrow. She is better, but her immune system is lowered.
Poor kid, she hasn't been sleeping well at night, which also means not such great sleep for the rest of us. She coughs all night long. So, it's been a long week for all of us.
Hubby starts traveling next week. This is usually when travel season starts. Sounds like it is going to kick off with a bang too. Meaning, he is going to be doing a lot of traveling for a few months. Thankfully in the middle of all that we get a short family vacation! It's been a long time since we have done that! Kasey was 5 months old last time we did a family vacation!
I am glad travel season is starting, it means business is picking up. But travel season is always a bit difficult for me. It's a lot of Hubby coming and going. It's a lot of adjusting back and forth, and I pretty much am a single parent for months on end. Ok, that is all the complaining I am going to do about that (for now, haha).
Well, I picked a labor intensive dinner for tonight, for some reason. So I better go and work on that! Hope all of you are well!
