County Fair

There is 18 days until the next Harry Potter book is released. I have pre-ordered my copy on Amazon. I can’t wait! Yes, I am a Harry Potter fan. But I mean, really, have you read them?! When Hubby and I first started dating, he had not read them. So, he read my copies. Then when the last one was released, he said I was taking too long to read it. So he stole it from me, when I was halfway through and read it in about 3 days. I can’t wait to get the next book! I am so sad that it is the last book though. And we buy all the movies when they come out, so we have all of them so far that have been released on DVD. But I really do prefer the books.

Our county fair is coming up soon. I am sure most of you know that we purchase a cow and pig every year and split it with other people. We have been doing this since 2002. I had never gotten up the courage to go to the auction, as I figured if I saw these cute cows with their big brown eyes and long eyelashes looking at me, that it would be coming home and living in the back yard, instead of coming home in the little white packages that go right into our freezer. But with the job that Hubby has now, he will be gone every year for the fair. And since we are always active participants, I don’t feel that it’s fair to always ask others to go. So, I finally summoned up the courage to go this year. But I realized last night that the auction is on the same day as my sisters Bridal Shower. So, no luck going this year. Hopefully next year I can go.

I was looking at the Fair’s website and I just had to laugh. On their schedule, one day they have a watermelon seed spitting contest. Another day they have a rabbit agility contest. And there was also a dress your potato contest. Sounds like lots of fun things going on! We may need to try to get out there the weekend before Hubby leaves to check it out. I can see us taking the baby to this as she gets older! There is such fun stuff to do!
