Hubby recovered quickly from his stomach flu. Apparently the stomach bug was going around. There is also a cold/respiratory thing going around and 3 people at our office have it. And I caught it, except I got the full fledged flu. It started Thursday night late with a low grade fever and heavy chest. I also tweaked my knee somehow! I have no idea what I did, but when I got in bed Thursday night my knee hurt.
So, when I woke up on Friday morning and I could hardly bear weight on my knee and I still felt a little yucky, I got a doctor’s appointment. I saw a PA that I had not seen before. She said I had tendonitis in my knee and that I was at the beginning of something, most likely an upper respiratory infection. So, she said that basically because I am pregnant there wasn’t much they could do, and she sent me off. Since I wasn’t feeling great, I didn’t go into work, but worked from home instead.
I woke up in the middle of the night Friday night with a high fever, chills, and congestion. I called the on call OB/GYN at 2am because my fever was up to 101.2. He said it sounds like the flu, take Tylenol, rest, and drink liquids, a lot of liquids.
Saturday I spent most of the day in bed, still fighting a fever. I got up only once and a great while. I am pretty sure my fever broke sometime Saturday night. It’s down to around 99 degrees now, so a lot better than where I had been. But I got some sleep that night too, so I feel about 5% better now. I actually got out of bed a few more times today. Poor Courtney wants to spend time with her mommy and I have to shy away from her. Talking isn’t fun, so hiding out in bed not only helps me rest, but then I don’t have to talk and that feels good too. I already plan
on staying home from work tomorrow too. I have a feeling I may be out a few days with this.
The baby (EEK as we call her) has been very active lately! They (the “experts”) say that the baby’s most active week is 24 weeks. I am currently 26 weeks along. She sure is following the “experts” guidelines. This kid has moved and kicked more in the last few weeks I think more than Courtney did the whole time I was pregnant! This kid is a mover and shaker. Courtney was so calm. Courtney had lulled me into the feeling that she was going to be a calm easy going kid. HA! I know better now!
The funny thing to me is that since Hubby has spent lots of quality one on one time with her over the last 2 days he now sees how much she is a 2 year old. I tried to join then for dinner at the dinner table Saturday night, and she was whining and crying about something. He said to me “she’s been like this all day”. I thought about how it’s really nothing new. She’s like that every day. Maybe I have just gotten really good at distracting her away from her fits.
She still amazes me. When I spent some time downstairs this evening she would ask me things like “are you feeling better?” or “you need to rest so you get better Mommy”. She is really starting to comprehend things/feelings of others. And she can vocalize them so much! She is truly amazing to me.
Well, I guess I will end here so I can curl up and maybe sleep. Hope all of you are avoiding the flu! And yes, I did get a flu shot this year.
